Strategic Director
Keren Solomon has ten years experience providing customer insight and marketing solutions for Fortune 500 companies, e-commerce companies, and entrepreneurs. Her areas of expertise include ethnography, qualitative research, and user experience research. Keren has worked with US and international companies in multiple industries, including consumer products, retail, technology, entertainment, travel, and financial services.
Before joining Cheskin, Keren worked as an independent consultant. She relocated to the San Francisco area from New York City, where she was a Project Director at Envirosell, an international research company that specializes in analyzing consumer behavior in retail environments. Keren has done research projects for Smirnoff/Diageo, Old Navy, adidas, Sony, Hewlett-Packard and others.
Keren received her BA from the University of Pennsylvania and her MA in International Relations from Yale. She is a member of SfAA (Society for Applied Anthropology), BayCHI, and AWNY (Advertising Women of New York). She is an avid traveler and a published photographer, and she also enjoys improv theater and Latin music.

People say to write about what you know. I travel for work, so I know airlines and hotels. Recently I’ve been thinking about what makes a great hotel experience, and two things stick out in my mind – customer service and personality. When I think of hotels, two brands pop into my mind – Starwood and Kimpton.

Every Election Day, there are numerous articles and news segments talking about democracy, and how we are fortunate to live in a country where government and law comes from the consent of the governed. And just about every year, we hear about voting “glitches” and how nice it would be to “improve the process.” Design for Democracy is an organization that has some thoughts about how.

After 8 months at Cheskin, today is the first day that I’m not staffed on a project. So it’s a good day to blog and to reflect on my experiences to date.
Cheskin is a very interesting place. The more I learn about our projects and our people, the more curious and engaged I become. There is a huge talent pool here, in terms of both research and life experiences.
