Blogging in China-the “bo ke” revolution

Economic change in China has slowly brought upon increased freedom of expression. And so I find it incredibly exciting and unprecedented to see blogging culture take off among China’s 90 million (and growing) Internet users. Bloggers, called “bo ke” in Chinese, are flocking to sites such as blogchina.com and CNblog.org. In addition, China’s 320 million mobile phone users can now use “moblogging” services, to send text and photos directly from their phones to their blogs.

How will the nature of news and information exchange develop in China? How will youths in the remote regions learn about (and maybe even influence) fashion, music, art, and literature? China’s bo ke culture may give us some indication.

I got your blog from my design research class.

As a blogger of "Bo Ke", I happened to find your interesting topic related to this area.
I had my own blog when "Bo Ke" just emerged in China, I just thought that was fun to have one but I didn't use it frequently as most of other bloggers in China. After I started my study about the ditigal media in US, I paid more attention in this area. You can't imagine how blog change people's live. I knew a lot of virtual friends through blog. We started our own online community and we even treated our community like a virtual family. One of my blog friend even published her book after keeping writing her cooking story for 2 years. I believe blog will be used far away from its original purpose, I will keep my eye on that!

Look forward to reading your research!
